THE BIG DRAW

October Half Term (24 October – 1 November 2015)
12pm – 4pm every day

This October the artists of the future can get creative at the ArcelorMittal Orbit by taking part in the Big Draw, the world’s largest drawing festival. All the family are invited to get to grips with a pencil or pen and make their mark on a 2 metre-high blank canvas in the shape of London’s most iconic buildings.

The theme for this year’s festival is Every Drawing Tells A Story, inspired by the storytelling potential of the art of drawing – its ability to bring stories to life, reveal the past, capture the present and explore the future. Founded in the UK in 2000, The Big Draw takes the idea that anyone can draw – given the opportunity. In 2014, more than 414,000 people took part in over 1,800 events in 26 countries, connecting people of all ages with museums, interesting spaces, artist, designers and illustrators.

Throughout October half-term, visitors will be encouraged to become part of the ArcelorMittal Orbit’s story. You and your family can bring your stories to life on a 2 metre-high blank canvas in the shape of London landmarks and the city’s famous cabs and buses using an array of coloured pens and pencils.
